House of Our Ancestors

Parc-des-Ancêtres is also a place of remembrance, featuring a monument in homage to the founding families of Île d'Orléans, created by Guy Bel, a blacksmith. This monument has four commemorative plaques at its base, bearing the names of the 272 pioneers of Île d'Orléans and their wives.

It was in January 1966 that Mont-Sainte-Anne officially became a ski resort. It had four ski lifts, including the only gondola in Eastern Canada, and opened with ten trails for ski enthusiasts! Since then, the resort has earned an enviable reputation for its unique expert terrain and trails for all categories of skiers and snowboarders. An hour east of Quebec City, Le Massif boasts the greatest vertical drop east of the Canadian Rockies (2,625 ft). With its untamed ski terrain and steep slopes that seem to plunge directly into the sea, the mountain is also renowned for its impressive annual snowfall of over 22 ft (669 cm).

The Cyclorama of Jerusalem is the largest panorama in America. Exhibited in Ste-Anne-de-Beaupré since 1895, this gigantic work of art, created in Munich from 1878 to 1882, measures 14 meters high (45 feet) and 110 meters in circumference (360 feet), covering 1,540 square meters. It creates such a realistic illusion of life and relief that visitors feel as if they are in Jerusalem, reliving the crucifixion. From the observation gallery, you can view the entire city and over 80 kilometers of the surrounding countryside in all four cardinal directions. Unique, breathtaking, and exceptional, this journey to biblical times in the heart of the Holy Land will fascinate you.

Côte-de-Beaupré was one of the first areas to be settled in the St. Lawrence Valley, starting in the early 17th century. From the colony's inception until 1763, the young seigneury welcomed approximately 170 families of French origin. The region boasts numerous heritage remnants, including the 1653 seigniorial mill and Samuel de Champlain's first residence built outside the walls of Quebec City. Another historical remnant is the first convent for the education of girls in rural areas of New France, which was built in 1694 at the instigation of the colony's first bishop, Monseigneur François de Laval.

The Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré is a basilica located along the Saint Lawrence River in Quebec, Canada, 30 kilometers east of Quebec City. The Catholic Church has credited it with numerous miracles of healing the sick and disabled.

For nearly 100 years, the Gilles family has been renowned for its expertise in metalwork. Its founder, Albert Gilles, was born in Paris in 1895. At the age of 11, he was introduced to the art of "Repoussé" by his aunt, and very quickly, this pastime became a passion. In 1926, he even won first prize in Decorative Arts in Paris.
